Celebrating 150 Years
The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad offers weekend round trip excursions from Belfast, Maine. Our season runs weekends from Memorial Day weekend through through late October.
Conveniently located just a few miles off Route 1 in Belfast, working a train ride into your travel plans is a bonus when visiting the Mid Coast Region or in route to Acadia National Park.
Please see our events listing or view our calendar to see our events, fares, and schedules. Most of our trains will depart from City Point Station in Belfast, Maine. Our regular ride is west towards Waldo Station with the return trip to Belfast. We also have trains for the Common Ground Country Fair that operate out of Unity and Thorndike, Maine
Our excursions operate with two vintage GE 70 ton diesel electric locomotives, #50 and #53. #50 along with #51 was purchased new by the B&ML in 1946 and remained on the line its whole career. #53 was purchased used from the Montpelier and Barre Railroad in 1970.
The Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad is a division of the Brooks Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Excursions help to sustain the railroad and fund our many preservation and restoration projects. If you're unable to ride with us, then consider a membership, volunteering, or a donation instead.
BPS membership benefits include free passage on our B&ML Train Ride, discounts on several theme trains, and discounts for items in our gift shop.
